An exterminator may use any of three methods to accomplish this. They can use baits such as wood or cardboard soaked in a chemical. When the bait is found it is taken back to the colony to poison the colony. Repellants can also be used to discourage termites from entering and damaging a structure. If the infestation has already commenced and damage is discovered the exterminator can use a termaticide to kill the termites. This is generally only used in the event a major infestation is discovered that has already done some damage.
In commercial structures one of the most common infestations are mice and rats; these are more noticeable in urban areas. The reasons for this are that rodents seem to follow people because of the ready food source left wherever humans live. We call it garbage rodents call it a buffet. Control of rodents is extremely important because they can carry up to 35 different diseases. If you discover rodents you can be sure of one thing there is a breach somewhere in your business or building that is allowing them access.
